Ramen History
Ramen originated in China and made its way to Japan in 1859 At that time it was usually served with wheat noodles in broth topped with Chinese-style roast pork.
Today nearly every region of Japan has its own version of ramen soup bases.
Some key ones include:
Tonkotsu, a pork bone broth (Kyushu)
Miso, (Hokkaido)
Shoyu (Honshu)

Pork
Scallions
Naruto (fish cake)
Nori (seaweed)
Bamboo shoots
Spinach
